WORKSHOP

The 19th ASD is hosting the following workshop, which is free for registered attendees of the symposium.
There are a limited number of places, as the course is oriented more on practical usage of the software with close interaction with the lecturers.
Because the number of the workshop participants is limited to 25, the first 25 people who register and pay the registration fee will be accepted to the workshop.
Participants should bring their laptops.

Practical course in survival analysis using the Survival Kit v6:
Survival analysis - Theory and application

by Gábor Mészáros and Johann Sölkner

Upon completion of the course the participant should be able to recognize the main features of the survival analysis methodology and conduct an analysis using the Survival Kit (Ducrocq et al., 2010).

The outline of the course:
   - The definition of survival (failure, event) times
          - survival curves, hazard function, Kaplan Meier estimate, censoring of data
   - Modelling effects on survival
          -  two sample case, regression, complex models, time dependent covariates, random effects

Survival kit v6:
   - Functionalities
          - Kaplan Meier, Cox, Weibull and Prentice-Gloecker model; random effects; censoring and truncation
   - Use
          - data preparation, parameter files
   - Examples (bring your laptop!)
          - examples to demonstrate functionalities; human dataset to estimate effects in very large samples; pig dataset to estimate heritability (see Mészáros et al, 2010)
